Valentine's Day! A time to show the ones you love how much you love them. It's a special time and today, Shadow and I... We are gonna talk about our 5 favorite couples from Nintendo Games. Whether one goes on an epic quest to save the other, or they adventure together and grow a really strong bond with each other. All of the couples here are ones that tug at our heartstrings and are just great to see together every time they're on screen. Were only keeping this list to Nintendo Games. We know that there are tons of amazing from other games, but were sticking with this one focus. Also if we expanded to just games in general Arza would make this a Top 50. Hey! ...well... Also, expect some minor spoilers for some games, and don't worry about Brian. He's just locked up with something important right now. ANYWAY! Now lets take a look at our Top 5 Nintendo Couples. 5) Plague Knight & Mona (Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows) - This entry technically breaks the rules as this isn't a "Nintendo Game". However, their series originated on a Nintendo system, people genuinely associate Shovel Knight with Nintendo, and in my own super personal opinion guys with masks are cute. (slightly muffled) COULD YOU PLEASE JUST EXPLAIN THE ENTRY SO I CAN GET OUT OF HERE!!! Anyway... Plague Knight and Mona's story is fairly simple. During Plague Knight's Quest he and Mona start to form an interesting friendship through there mutual love of alchemy and potion-making, which eventually grows into Plague Knight falling in love with her. During the final moments of the game when he feels like he must risk everything just so Mona can love him, she admits that she already does love him. Despite his smaller stature, weird personality, and troubled past, she loves him for who he is. This story is simple, but its really sweet. Totally worthy of a spot here. 4) Fox & Krystal (Star Fox Series) - This love story starts simple, but as time between the games go on, it starts to develop into something much stronger. It starts in "Adventures", when Fox first meets Krystal when he comes across her staff and is chosen to help her defend her planet and the entire galaxy. He finds her and she ends helping the StarFox crew and eventually joins the team full-time and eventually the two admit they do indeed love each-other. Their story is almost "Star Wars-esque", and its very heart-warming to have this love-story within a "space epic" like Star-Fox. The only minor snag is that there are technically multiple endings to this story. One has them fall in love and form an even bigger Star Fox team. One has them retire and have a kid, who'd later create his own Star Fox team. While the last one has them break up and she becomes a bounty hunter and they don't even recognize each-other. Y'know what, were gonna stick with the happy endings. Either way, their story is very touching and I hope you can see why we added them to the list. 3) Professor Kukui & Burnet (Pokemon Sun/Moon) - This husband and wife duo were one of the more memorable parts of Pokemon Sun and Moon. In the game, they share some good banter and have decent chemistry. However, the two of them really shine in the anime series, where their characters are more fleshed out and you get to see them interact a lot more. Kukui is goofy yet charming, Burnet is a bit more logical, but she a nice bubbly personality time-to-time. Not to mention, both characters serve as really great parental figures to the young trainers in both the TV Show and in the games and seeing them together really warms your heart. Nothing else to say but, "I choose you." Also, this couple is way better than ANY of the Ash & "Female Protagonist of Season" couples. If you could even call them that. However, that's a story for another day. 2) Link & Zelda (The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword) - Fun fact about the Zelda games to those who don't know. Unless stated otherwise, every Zelda game has a different incarnation of Link and Zelda, with Skyward Sword being the first incarnation. So while some incarnations have shown the two in some romantic light, Skyward Sword shows it the strongest. In the game, Link and Zelda are childhood friends and one day a mysterious beast creates a terrible storm and kidnaps Zelda. It's here that Link goes on a journey both of destiny, but mostly to rescue his greatest friend. The lengths he goes through to rescue her is one thing, but what really highlights the two are the conversations and interactions between them both when you start the game, when you eventually find her, and after the adventure is over. There might not be a final kiss in the end or "definitive" answer that they got together, but when you see these two together in the game you'd be hard-pressed not to believe that they got together in the end. It also holds even more water that these are the first incarnations of the characters. So even if not every Link and Zelda had showings of romantic interest, these two help show why each one is more than willing to help her and save Hyrule. Literally the love that was at the very beginning and spun off into a great legend, surely deserves a spot on this list. 1) Mario & Princess Peach (Super Mario Series) - We can make jokes all we want. "Oh, she always gets kidnapped.", "Oh, he's saved tons of other princesses too.", "Oh, they still haven't gotten married." "Oh, if they love each other so much, why do they fight each other in Smash?" However, when making this list it was almost impossible to not put them on the list, because the loving moments between the two kinda outshine that stuff. It's true that some of these other couples have a more deeper story, but even though these two are the most simple they are definitely the most memorable. Despite Peach needing to be rescued in almost every other game, which now that I think about it is more of an afterthought given Bowser's motives per game, Mario is always more than willing to help rescue her and Mushroom Kingdom, and while the internet and the rest of the world are willing to make fun of Peach you know who doesn't, Mario. Never in the games does he show any negative attitudes or ill-will toward her. Peach in turn always lights up and smiles when Mario is around. She enjoys hanging out with him, almost always rewards him with a kiss, and loves baking him cakes. Aside from the mainline games, the two have even more chemistry in the spin-off's like Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, Mario Party, etc. And in the moments between the main games, we see both of them out together just walking or talking and enjoying each-others company. There are just so many sweet moments between these two you can't not smile. Which is why these two are totally #1. What about you guys? Who is your favorite Nintendo Couple? Who is just your favorite game couple period? Let us know in the comments. Thanks for joining us, and have a very Happy Valentines Day.
